Checkout Flow

What merchants should expect

Before taking a live payment, make sure Stripe setup is complete in InkSchedule and that the iPhone is up to date. During checkout, Tap to Pay should be clearly visible as a payment option and ready for use on the device that will accept payments.

Fallback if a tap fails

If Tap to Pay cannot read the payment method, fall back to another approved option such as a payment link, manual card checkout, or cash.

Digital receipts

After checkout, InkSchedule supports sharing a confidential digital receipt with the client.

Step-by-step

How to use Tap to Pay on iPhone

1

Accept contactless cards

Ask the client to hold their contactless card near the top of the iPhone when you start checkout in InkSchedule.

2

Accept Apple Pay and digital wallets

Clients can also pay with Apple Pay, iPhone, Apple Watch, and other supported digital wallets using the same Tap to Pay flow.

3

Hand over the device for PIN

If a PIN is required, let the client enter it privately on the iPhone and follow the accessibility guidance that appears on screen.

4

Keep a fallback ready

If a tap does not go through, fall back to another approved payment method such as a payment link, manual card checkout, or cash.

5

Share a digital receipt

After checkout, InkSchedule can share a digital receipt so the client leaves with proof of payment.
